:: Bunge & Born S.A.
In 1884, Ernest Bunge, moved to Argentina, a growing and promising agribusiness market.
Between 1900 and 1950, the company initiates several industrial activities such as wheat crushing, oils and raw materials for human consumption, tinplate production, paints, textile industry, agrochemicals. Ernest Bunge founded companies such us Molinos Río de la Plata, Centenera, Companía Química, Grafa, Sulfacid, amongst others.
From the 60´s until the 80´s, insurance activities, computing, property business, were also part of this group.
Towards the end of the 80’s and beginning of the 90´s, Bunge & Born sold their non core businesses and focused on agribusiness, including fertilizers, grain and oilseeds origination, and by-products manufacturing destined for exports.
In 1999, its portfolio, properties, assets and liabilities were acquired by Bunge Argentina.
:: La Plata Cereal S.A.
In 1925, the André Group started grain trading business and exports in Argentina. La Plata Cereal S.A. was the resulting name of the company.
During the next decades, its business diversified to other activities such as: cotton textiles, metallurgical industry and wheat crushing activities for the production of balanced food, as well as farming facilities, generating companies such as Platex, Pullman, Turri S.A., Molinos Concepción, Argal, amongst others.
As of 1980, with the acquisition of Indo S.A., located in Pto. Gral. San Martín (one of the first private ports in the country) it concentrates its business in grains, oilseeds and by-products exportation.
In the mid 90´s, with the acquisition of Alecy Fertilizers, it initiates its operations in commercialization and distribution of fertilizers.
In 2001, Bunge Argentina bought La Plata Cereal S.A.
:: Guipeba S.A.
Guipeba S.A. was founded in 1965, in Tancacha, core zone of the most important agriculture region in the province of Córdoba.
In 1984, this group completes the 2nd Industrial Complex in Santa Fe province, San Jerónimo Sud, located 30 km from Rosario City.
In 1994, the company was purchased by the Brazilian Group Ceval, and the company changed it name to Guipeba - Ceval S.A.
In 2001, the company was taken over by Bunge Argentina.

Thus, with the Bunge y Born acquisition, the purchase of Guipeba S.A. and La Plata Cereal Co., Bunge Argentina became the leading agri business company in the country and the world’s top exporter of soybean and by-products. |
